Anne Lewis Nolan, 91, of Signal Mountain, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1925, in Tryon, NC, and was the daughter of the late Edgar and Annie Lewis.  Her family moved to St. Petersburg, FL, where she was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School and received her B.S. degree from Florida State University.  Anne taught high school in Florida and Virginia.  She moved to Signal Mountain in 1959 from King’s Mountain, NC, and then to Alexian Village in 1998.

Anne was a member of the Signal Mountain Baptist Church.  She served as commissioner of streets and sanitation for the City of Signal Mountain from 1979 – 1983 and then served as mayor of the City of Signal Mountain from 1983 – 1987. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul V. Nolan, M.D. and her daughter, Lou Anne Harrelson. Nolan Elementary School was named in their honor for Dr. and Mrs. Nolan.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas L. Nolan, East Ridge, and John (Kathie) Nolan, Dunlap; son-in-law, Steve Harrelson, Signal Mountain; five grandchildren, Brett (Stacy) Nolan, Ashley (Skip) Cisto, Keith Nolan, Stephanie Harrelson and Aaron Harrelson; four great-grandchildren; brother, James (Betty Jean) Lewis, Kissimmee, FL; sister-in-law, Mary Gold, Shelby, NC; and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity.
 
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, at the Signal Mountain Baptist Church with Reverend Sally Ensley and Dr. Steven Wright officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
 
The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, before the service.
