Chattanooga State Announces Fine Art Events For Spring

The Humanities and Fine Arts Department at Chattanooga State are hosting several free events this spring from musical performances to theatre.  All events are free to the public and are presented at the Chattanooga State Humanities Theatre, unless stated differently. Donations will be accepted at the door.  

Students Laura Hicks, soprano, and Trevor Fowler, trumpet, will present a recital of solo brass and vocal music on Monday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. 

The Music Department will present a recital featuring students of voice and applied instrumental study on Tuesday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. 

The students of Dr. Jennifer Arbogast and Caitlin Moore will be presenting a recital of solo and chamber vocal works. The recital will include classical and musical theatre songs ranging from the Baroque era to present day. It will be held on Wednesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m.

The Chattanooga State Jazz Band will perform an evening of great Jazz standards under the musical direction of Jay Stanfill on Monday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Pianists David and Gigi Walters, and cellist Eric Reed, will perform a chamber music recital featuring works by Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff, and Kapustin. The recital will take place on Tuesday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m.

The Chattanooga State concert choir will present a Masterworks program under the direction of Darrin Hassevoort. Performing choral works of classical, American, and contemporary composers, the program will feature students, faculty, and special guest performers from the Chattanooga Symphony. The performance will take place on Friday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m.

The Chattanooga State Symphonic Band, led by Nicholas Hartline, will perform on Tuesday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature Gordon James, principal French horn of the Chattanooga Symphony and the Huntsville Symphony, as well as the Chattanooga State Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of David Pedigo. The concert will focus on American composers and themes. 

The Music Department will present a recital featuring students of voice and applied instrumental study on Tuesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m.

The final production for students graduating from the Professional Acting Training Program will be held Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday April 30 at 2:30 p.m.

First year students in the Professional Acting Training Program will perform An Evening on 10 Minute Plays on Wednesday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m.
