The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team scored a 6-1 win at Wofford today.  The victory moves the Mocs into third place in the Southern Conference race at 4-2, 14-6 overall.  Furman leads the way at 6-0 (19-5), followed by ETSU in second at 5-1 (10-5).

The opened by taking a heavily contested doubles point.  Sophomores Mckenzie Barco and Caroline Hall opened with a 6-2 win at No. 3.  Wofford bounced back with a win at No. 2, but senior Rachele Gazzola and junior Samantha Caswell clinched the point at No.

Caswell and Gazzola are wrapping up an outstanding season in the top spot for the Mocs.  They are 13-4 overall, 11-4 in the spring and 3-1 in SoCon matches.

UTC kept the pressure on in doubles when sophomore Delaney Edwards capped off a strong weekend with a (6-1, 6-1) win over Cassidy Hicks at No. 2.  Caswell followed that with a straight sets win at No. 1.

The Terriers got on the board with a win at six, but the Mocs closed it out with sophomore Sydney Patton's win at No. 4.  Gazzola and Hall also won in singles play today.

"That was the closet 6-1 match I can remember," said UTC head coach Chad Camper.  "Wofford is well-coached and they fought hard.  We had to play our best to win and I am really proud of the maturity we showed today.

"Things got tough and we found a way. Samantha and Delaney winning their singles matches after winning the doubles was huge momentum for us."

The Mocs return home for Senior Day next week against Samford on Friday, April 14.  Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Baylor School courts.
