Mohawk Adding Approximately 150 Jobs At Newly-Acquired Bridgeport Fiber Facility

  • Tuesday, June 20, 2017
Mohawk Industries is making good on its promises to grow employment opportunities in Bridgeport and modernize the company’s newly acquired nylon fiber facility.

Since the acquisition was completed in early May, Mohawk has added 50 individuals to the existing Bridgeport team, and the company is currently in the process of hiring approximately 100 additional people for new positions. Interested applicants are encouraged to review job postings and apply online at mohawkcareers.com.

“Applying online is quick and easy and can be done from any computer or mobile device,” said Bridgeport HR Manager and lifelong Jackson County resident Angie Yates.
“If people are looking for career opportunities with excellent pay and benefits as well as a friendly workplace, they should definitely apply.”

Ms. Yates has worked at Mohawk for 23 years and said she is proud to see the world’s largest flooring manufacturer create new opportunities for residents of Bridgeport and the surrounding tri-state area.

“It’s a pleasure to see the impact that Mohawk’s purchase of the Bridgeport plant has had in this community,” Ms. Yates said. “We had a great team of people here from day one, and we’re actively hiring more people to fill new positions. Mohawk is a great place to work, and all of the investments being made at Bridgeport will create many opportunities in the years ahead.”

To improve the employee experience at the Bridgeport fiber facility, Mohawk implemented a general wage increase, introduced a renewed focus on safety and training, installed digital signs for regular communication, added a filtered water system and introduced on-site kiosks through which employees can access company-provided resources. Mohawk is also investing significantly in the facility’s infrastructure and technology, including new manufacturing equipment and fully renovated restrooms and break rooms as well as the upcoming replacement of the facility’s roof.

“We are excited to be a part of the Mohawk family. The acquisition of this site is a win-win-win. It adds another layer in the vertical integration of the company by adding Nylon-6 polymerization, the employees are able to continue working and the community thrives,” said Dennis Long, director of fiber and polymerization.

“Mohawk’s investments in state-of-the-art equipment and site improvements are making the Bridgeport plant an even better place to work. I’m proud of our great management team here, and we’re eager to welcome new team members to the plant during this growth phase. If you’ve worked here in the past and you’re interested in seeing how Mohawk’s investments are making a difference, you should apply for one of many great jobs that are now available.”
