Hixson public school officials made a special presentation this week at the monthly Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce Hixson Council meeting.

In their semi-annual report to Chamber members in the Hixson footprint, the educators touched on school news, discussed their vision for the upcoming year and shared success stories regarding their respective 2016-17 Hixson Council Enrichment Grant projects.

Throughout the last school year, the Hixson Council donated $2,100 to Hixson public schools in support of various academic initiatives, including a robot coding program at Big Ridge Elementary School, a sculpture garden at Loftis Middle School and the Hixson High School Music Department’s strings program.

“Community leadership is a core pillar of our organization,” said Hixson Council President Donald Kane. “We always strive to provide leadership for our local businesses, but it is especially important to our organization that we also nurture the future leaders of our community.”

The 2016-17 Enrichment Grants were made possible by the Chattanooga Zoo, Donald Kane State Farm, Hullco Exteriors, Mathnasium, Northgate Mall, Right at Home, Scenic Community Credit Union and Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union.
