Virginia Cordell
Virginia Faye Cordell, 75, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, July 23, 2017, in a local health care facility.
Mrs. Cordell was born in Decatur, Tn., but had lived in Chattanooga most of her life. She was retired from Dupont and was a member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church.
She was a daughter of the late Neil “Bus” and Bernice Melton and was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Cordell and a brother, Don Melton.
Survivors include her son, Chad (Karen) Cordell, Hixson; daughter, Donna (Gene) Wade, Soddy-Daisy; four brothers, Dean (Regina) Melton, Chattanooga; J.E. Melton, Chattanooga; Sheriff Jackie (Patty) Melton, Decatur; Ronnie Melton, Decatur; two sisters, Sara (Paul) Cordell, Chattanooga; Betty (Ned) Holder, Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Bret Wade and Mallory Wade both of Soddy-Daisy; Grant Cordell and Emma Cordell, both of Hixson; several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Randy Bell, Reverend Roger DeHart and Reverend Dustin Taylor officiating. Entombment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Cordell, Chuck Thomas, Tony Cordell, Seth Cordell, Jamie Bramlett and Russell Reid.
