Erlanger Expands Cardiac And Pulmonary Rehab Services To Erlanger North Hospital

  • Thursday, September 14, 2017

Erlanger Health System will  open the Erlanger Heart and Lung Institute Center for Wellness at Erlanger North Hospital on Sept. 20.

EHLI is bringing cardiac, pulmonary, and PAD rehab to the community. The EHLI Center for Wellness will include exercise, nutrition education, diabetes, and stress management training that are vital to improving overall health, officials said. This will be an extension of the program already in place at the Chattanooga Lifestyle Center including Cardiac Phase 3 rehab, Pulmonary Phase 2 and 3 rehab, and PAD rehab.

“At Erlanger, we are committed to improving the health of our community, and establishing the EHLI Center for Wellness at North is yet another move in that direction,” said Dr. Alison Bailey, director of Preventative Cardiology and Cardiac Rehab at the Erlanger Heart and Lung Institute. “We chose this location because the community asked for it. It is centrally located for many of our patients and fills some recent voids in the wellness area. We are so happy to be here as part of the North community and continue to expand on the work started at the Chattanooga Lifestyle Center.”

"Programs like cardiac pulmonary and PAD rehab are proven solutions to the chronic disease crisis. Cardiac rehab improves survival rate by 25 to 30 percent after all invasive options have been exhausted. Erlanger opened Chattanooga’s first Cardiac Rehab program in 1978 with Dr. Walter Puckett, and has continuously offered the program for almost 40 years. The program is available to all patients no matter where care was previously received," officials said.
