Parker “Gene” Harris, 72, a resident of Georgetown, Tn., passed away on Friday January 12, 2018.

Many knew Gene for his great musical talents. He played bass guitar for his church which he loved, the Pine Hill Church of God. More than anything, he loved his wife and family. Gene will be remembered as a hardworking family man who enjoyed helping others and sharing his love for Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bessie Harris; siblings, Jorge Harris, Doyle Harris, Jimmy Harris, Faye Jackson, Pauline Knox, Clifford Harris, Bud Harris, Camel Harris, Mary Harris, and Alice Harris; and sons-in-law, Larry Loach and Bryan Gates.

Gene leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 41 years, Marilyn Harris; children, Robert Harris, Tony (Dot) Harris, Cherrie Robinson, Terry Harris, Robbyn Loach, David (Tabitha) Harris, Jane (Travis) Perkins, Ray (Amy) Harris, and Dawn (Roger) Creekmore; brothers, Ronald Harris (Eva) and Larry Harris (Diane); 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A celebration of life funeral service is planned for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Mount Olive Church of God, at 3522 Harrison Pike, Cleveland, Tn. 37311, with Pastor Jason Ollis officiating.

The family will receive friends two hours prior, from 3-5 p.m. at the church on Tuesday.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Ooltewah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pine Hill Church of God, 1484 Old Alabama Road, McDonald, Tn. 37353.
