  • Thursday, October 4, 2018

International Observe the Moon Night is Oct 20.  In honor of this, a final star party will be conducted by the Barnard Astronomical Society and sponsored by the staff and friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park.  The event will be held at the starting point of the Disc Golf Course from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct 20

Officials said, "Come see the wonders of the night sky through our telescopes.  Mars and Jupiter will be visible this night. We will also be identifying the fall constellations.

"As always, we will also be observing DSOs (Deep Sky Objects) like star clusters, nebulae and other galaxies like our own Milky Way."

Astronomy programs will be free to all. Usual parking fee at the park applies. If the weather is “iffy” call 941-544-3420 after 6 p.m. that day for update.
