The Dalton State Women's Soccer team hoped to welcome Florida College to the SSAC with a loss, but it was the Lady Falcons who got the upper hand as they came away with a 2-0 home victory in Temple Terrace, Fla. on Thursday evening.

It would be a rather pedestrian first half that was played mostly in the mid-field area. No team would really take advantage of the other as both squads played tough defense and limited the others chances. Neither team would be able to take a shot as they entered halftime tied 0-0.

The energy would ramp up in the second period of play.
Aggressive play from the Lady Falcons would lead to two offsides penalties before Kiara Romero got them on the board in the 51' for a 1-0 lead. The Lady Roadrunners would struggle to mount an attack as the Florida College defense made it difficult to get a shot off. The Lady Falcons would add a late goal as they would come away with a 2-0 win in their first SSAC contest.

Dalton State falls to (6-4-1, 0-3 SSAC) with the loss, while Florida College improves to (6-2-1, 1-0 SSAC) with the win. The first half of the contest featured no shots from either team, but in the second half Florida College would out shoot the Lady Roadrunners 4-0.

Dalton State will have a week off before they host Faulkner (Ala.) in a crucial SSAC matchup on October 13 at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
