B. Leroy Parks, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018, at his residence.

Leroy was born in Molena, Ga., to the late Varner Mae Thomas and Precious Seay. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Delores Handsome.

Leroy was a dedicated member and deacon at Mt. Peria Baptist Church, Ringgold.

He was a member of the Howard High School Class of 1956 and he retired after 47 years of perfect attendance and employment at Bellsouth.

Leroy is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Brown Parks of Chattanooga; children, Darolyn (Vernon) Porter of Clarksville, Tn; Selestene (Andrew) Womble of Chattanooga; Roderick (Karen) Parks of Lithonia, Ga., and Tangie (Darren) Cawthon of Newport News, Va.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews; numerous cousins and many friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Hearth Hospice and his nurse, Brannon Cooper for the loving care shown to Leroy during his final days.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Peria Baptist Church, Ringgold, with Reverend Jimmy Ingram officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens East. Mr. Parks will lie in state on Friday, Feb. 2, from 12-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.
