HES Hosts Summer FurFest 12-Hour Adoption Event In Effort To Ease Overcrowding

  • Thursday, July 19, 2018
The Humane Educational Society continues to be over populated. The organization is experiencing a sharp increase in homeless animals needing care compared to years past. With so many animals in the shelter, keeping disease and illness under control has become increasingly difficult.

In an effort to help more animals find their forever home, the Humane Educational Society is hosting a Summer FurFest.
This 12-hour adopt-a-thon will take place on Saturday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Adopters can name their price on adoption fees. All adoptions will still include all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter surgery and a microchip. Visitors who cannot adopt but want to help are encouraged to donate canned cat or dog food to help meet the needs of animals awaiting their forever homes.

In addition to discounted adoption fees, visitors to our shelter will have a chance to win door prizes, learn more about becoming a foster parent and volunteering. Tikiz shaved ice will be on site from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and visitors will have the opportunity to witness dog play group demonstrations throughout the day.

Officials said, "It is our sincere hope that the community will take advantage of our name your price adoptions and that many of our animals will find their forever home. During our 2017 Summer FurFest over 40 animals found their forever home. It is our goal to beat last year’s adoption numbers and send over 60 animal’s home during our Summer FurFest."
