Fred Allen Millsaps, 84, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Garden Plaza of Cleveland.

Fred was born on May 22, 1934, in Maryville, Tn. a son of the late William McKinley and Edna Walker Millsaps. He faithfully served his county in the United States Army. Fred spent the majority of his life in Athens, Tn. where he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Athens. He worked as a distributor for 30 plus years for the Exxon Corporation. Fred was a generous man who loved spending time with his family. His “love language” was spending time with friends and family and treating them to a steak dinner. 

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Millsaps. 

Fred leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Burnette Millsaps, one daughter and son in law Suzanne and Marty Gregory, two grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Samuel McKinley Gregory and Caroline Elizabeth Gregory, seven siblings, Edward Millsaps, Ruth Hampton, Betty Moore (Roger), Harry Millsaps (Janette), William Millsaps (Lodema), Martha Cartwright (Wayne) and Jerry Millsaps (Doris), numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. 

A celebration of his life is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m. in the Cleveland Chapel at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, Tn. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. service time at the funeral home in Cleveland. There will be a private interment. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Nepal Mission Fund of First Baptist Church of Cleveland in Fred’s memory. Those can be send to First Baptist Church c/o Nepal Mission Fund P. O. Box 2368 Cleveland, Tn. 37320-2368.
