FirstBank Mortgage has awarded $1,000 scholarships to 66 families as part of the Next Generation Mortgage Scholarship program. In all, $66,000 was awarded to families across Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.

FirstBank mortgage bankers Sherri Boland, Chris Shoemake and Tom McNeill awarded a combined six scholarships to students in the Chattanooga area.

“FirstBank Mortgage was created with community in mind, and the Next Generation Mortgage Scholarship is an example of our commitment to the future leaders in Chattanooga,” said Wib Evans, president of FirstBank Ventures. “Education is vital, and we take great pride in providing some financial assistance that will lighten families’ loads.”

The 2017 Chattanooga winners are:
William Long
Frank May
Jeremy Morrow

“FirstBank founder Jim Ayers is a huge advocate for education, and this program was his vision,” said Lee Townsend, director of Retail Mortgage Lending at FirstBank Mortgage. “It is extremely meaningful to Mr. Ayers and our entire FirstBank team to take our work beyond financial services and invest in students who wish to further their education.”
