The League of Women Voters of Chattanooga has multiple opportunities for voters in Chattanooga and Hamilton County to register to vote, update and ensure their voter registration status, as well as, engage with candidates.
Monday, Sept.
24: The League of Women Voters of Chattanooga, UTC’s Women’s Studies Department, The Women’s Fund of Greater Chattanooga, and the new UTC group Mocs Go Vote 2018 will co-host a Meet & Greet for the State House candidates in districts 26-30. The Meet & Greet will take place in the Chattanooga Room on the second level of UTC’s University Center, 642 E. 5th Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Parking is free at the 5th Street garage across the street from the University Center after 5 p.m. All qualified candidates for the Tennessee House in districts 26 through 30 have been invited to participate in the Meet & Greet. The moderator will be Dr. Amanda Wintersieck, UC Foundation Assistant Professor of Political Science and Public Service at UTC. The public is invited to attend.
Tuesday, Sept. 25 is National Voter Registration Day. The League of Women Voters of Chattanooga has created tabletop tents that more than 50 businesses throughout Chattanooga have agreed to display. Additionally, LWV Chattanooga will hold a voter registration drive at Chattanooga State Community College and will be at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Nonprofit Expo. Finally, the LWV of Tennessee is a major sponsor of the Blackburn-Bredesen senatorial debate at 6 pm at Cumberland University, which will be broadcast across the state on public television stations. In Chattanooga, it will be broadcast on Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. on WTCI.
Wednesday, Sept. 26: The League of Women Voters will hold a voter registration drive at The Afternooners EP Release Party with Caney Village at Songbirds at 8 p.m.
