The Lee University Chorale, directed by Dr. William Green
Lee University School of Music will present a fall concert with Lee Chorale, directed by Dr. William Green. The concert will take place Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lee Chapel.
“With world music, choral classics, and American spirituals, this semester’s concert specifically has a smorgasbord of selections that are sure to excite and inspire,” said Dr. Green.
The program will feature the works of French composer Lili Boulanger, Latvian composer Ériks Ešenvalds, Canadian composer Sid Robinovitch, as well as other European and American composers.
The concert will also feature several settings of Psalm texts: Psalm 96, 24, 42, and a final selection from Psalm 19:14, composed by Dr. John Wykoff, associate professor of composition at Lee.
Lee University Chorale is known for the breadth of its repertoire, which ranges from sacred classical works and spirituals to vibrant cultural pieces. The ensemble has been featured in performances at Carnegie Hall and has traveled across Europe, performing at the Vatican, St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin.
This December, Chorale will be featured at the Advent Sing in Austria as a special guest of the city of Vienna. This tour will also include concerts in Dresden, Prague, and cathedrals and concert halls in Melk and Vienna.
Dr. Green serves as dean of Lee’s School of Music and a professor of choral music. He has collaborated with many of today’s leading conductors and has led performances of many of the major works for chorus and orchestra. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Music from Georgia State University.
