The Tellico Plains boys and girls basketball teams swept the District 4 Class A championships Saturday night at Sale Creek.   The Tellico girls beat Lookout Valley 53-24 and the boys won a nail bitter 48-47.

Tournament MVP Samantha Russell finished with 21 points for Tellico Plains as they ran away with the district title.   Russell hit five three pointers in the first half to give Tellico a big 33-11 lead at the half.  Chloe Yearwood had 17 for Tellico.

Lookout Valley was led by Rainey Barber with nine points.

In the boys game, Tellico jumped out to a 41-32 lead early in the fourth quarter after playing a very close first three quarters.    CSAS went on a 7-0 run to close the gap to 41-39 with 4:50 left in the game.

Tellico would maintain the lead in the final four minutes of play but the Patriots would close the lead to just one with one minute left.

A Cahlib Edwards three pointer with three seconds left cut the lead to one once again but the Patriots missed on the final shot.

Tellico's Jesse Lambert hit five of his six free throws late in the game.

Cahlib Edwards finished with 18 points for CSAS.  Tellico was led by Dale Rinehart with 19 points.

Tournament MVP Jesse Lambert of Tellico finished with nine points.

All four teams from the district finals and consolations will advance to region quarterfinals next week.
