Chattanooga State Community College will host its second annual Student Film Festival on March 28-30. All events are free and open to the public.
The festival will commence on campus in room C-30 in the Center for Advanced Technology on Thursday, March 28, with the screening of international film, Kedi, a documentary that details the daily activities of the many feral cats living in Istanbul, Turkey. Free food from Kabob-ster will be served at 4 p.m., with the film starting at 4:30 p.m. Following the screening, industry expert, Bo Wheeler, will discuss strategies for creating a successful documentary.
The festival hosts student film screening downtown at The Palace Theater on Friday, March 29. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with plenty of time to network and grab some concession snacks before the films begin screening at 7 p.m. Audience members also will have a chance to cast their votes for this year’s Audience Award.
The festival will culminate in an awards ceremony, cash prizes, and a panel discussion on Saturday, March 30, at 6:30 p.m. back on campus in C-30. Prizes will be given for Best Short Film, Best Short Documentary, Best Music Video, The Chattanooga State Honor Award, and The Audience Award. Free food and drinks will be served throughout the evening. This event will also include a special panel discussion with Lisa Stark, Elijah Piersaul, and Christian Eaves on how to break into the film industry.
