Cleveland State Baseball Wins, Softball Loses Against Chattanooga State

Cleveland State baseball started its series with Chattanooga State on a positive note, winning 7-3 over the Tigers this afternoon after trailing 3-0 in the early stages of the game.

The top of the order was key to the win. The first four of the lineup, consisting of CF Tucker Mendenhall, RF Lance Dockery, 3B Rhett Baldwin, and SS Jonathan Hickman combined for all seven RBIs and seven of the Cougars’ nine hits. 1B Marcial Hernandez also went 2-for-4 with a run scored. SP Ryan Inches recorded the win, allowing three runs and striking out five in 6.0 IP.

The Cougars will continue their series with the Tigers tomorrow in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 ET at Cougar Field.

Softball suffered two defeats against #12 Chattanooga State on Friday.

The first game, they lost 3-0. The second, they lost 8-0 in five innings.

The Lady Cougars will hope to even the series at 2-2 as the series with the Lady Tigers continues tomorrow. Their doubleheader will start at 12:00 ET.
