Covenant Golf Opens USA South Tournament

LAGRANGE, Ga. -- The Covenant golf team shot a 313 (+25) in the opening round of the USA South conference tournament at the Highland Country Club in LaGrange, Ga. on Thursday.

Huntingdon currently sits at the top of the leaderboard after posting a -11 (277) and Methodist is one stroke back after one round of play. On the individual side, Drew Mathers (Huntingdon) and Austin Fisher (Brevard) shot 67 (-5) on the day as Brantley Phillips (Methodist) sits one stroke back of the leaders.

Nathan Hawkins paced the Scots with a 76 (+4) and sits tied for 28th in the individual leaderboard.
Marshall Kent had a +6 (78) day and Josh Wall was just a stroke (79) behind him. Will DeMersseman shot a cool 80 (+8) and James Mitchellrounded out the Covenant golfers with an 85 (+13).

Mitchell starts the day for the Scots teeing off at 8:10 a.m. and Hawkins rounds out the day driving from the tee at 8:50 a.m. You can follow the Scots and the tournament here.
