5-3A Softball: Lady Owls 15-Hit Attack Includes 3 Homers In 13-3 Win

Cheyanne Sales, Addy Keylon and Lexi Vogel, the first three batters in Ooltewah’s lineup Thursday banged out 10 hits, 10 RBIs and scored nine runs in the Lady Owls’ 13-3 thrashing of Cleveland in District 5-3A softball action.

Sales belted two home runs while Keylon had a homer and triple to spark Ooltewah’s 15-hit attack against two Lady Blue Raiders pitchers.

The Lady Owls improved to 15-9 overall and 6-4 in district play. Cleveland fell to 12-14 and 3-8).

Annalee Moore threw a complete game three-hitter and struck out four and walked four in picking up the win. She threw 122 pitches with 70 strikes. She also threw six wild pitches and hit two batters. Teammates, however, gave her a whopping run advantage and the Lady Owls cruised to the 10-run victory.

The Lady Owls started pummeling Cleveland in the first inning with four runs. Keylon singled, Vogel reached on an error and Sales followed with an RBI double. Madalyn Mills pushed across two runs with an infield hit and Mackenzie Patterson ripped a run-scoring double to left.

Keylon cracked a one-out triple in the second and scored on Vogel’s single to right. Sales hit a two-run homer to left. Keylon belted a three-run homer in the fifth.

Vogel’s double scored Keylon, who had singled, in the seventh and Sales slugs a two-run homer.

Bradley Central 8, McMinn County 7: Carly Chastain went 3 for 3 and drove in four runs to lead the Bearettes to the victory.

In a four-run sixth, Makayla Goree’s groundout scored Makenzie Lovingood. Riley Sermons singled to center to send Alana Cordell home and Haley Campbell lines a two-run single to center.

Chastain had run-scoring hits in the third fifth innings for the Bearettes (4-24, 2-9).

Brooke Mizell had four hits, drove in a run and scored two for the Lady Cherokees (13-18, 2-9). Moriah Erwin had three hits and Bailey Grubb and Ashley Baxter each added two hits.
