Mattie Lou Williams, 94, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019.

She was born in Cleveland, and spent her childhood there. After graduating from Bradley High School, she took a job as a riveter to support the war effort. She later moved to Chattanooga where she spent her adult life. She worked for American Lava and retired from Dixie Yarns with 35 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years L. Q. Williams, parents Harve and Myrtle Chase, brothers: Franklin, Tommy and Bobby Chase, and one sister Faye Eldridge.

She is survived by her son, Steve (Kathy) Williams, daughter, Starla Testerman, grandchildren: Chase Williams, Abigail Testerman, Michelle (Ben) Blagg, George (Rita) Testerman, Jennifer Morrow, five great-grandchildren, sister Ollie (Jack) Hall, brothers Joe Ben and Tony Chase, sister-in-law, Carolyn Chase and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church for 66 years.

Services will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, from 4-8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday, May 24, at noon.

Officiating will be Reverend Steve Sparks (Michigan) and David Testerman. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 903 Chattanooga, Tn. 37401.
