Supporting Electric Scooters Is Not Right To Life - And Response

  • Wednesday, June 19, 2019

If the majority of our state legislature truly believed in the right to life, then they would not support the commingling of electric scooters with cars and trucks on our public streets.

Two weeks ago I visited Baltimore.  They have electric scooters.  We don’t want them.  Seriously.

I tried to wander some of the blocks and the water front and the scooter traffic bounced between mildly irritating to nerve wracking.  They were on the sidewalks and the waterfront promenade and everywhere in between.

Want to cross a few feet to the other side of the sidewalk to examine a menu?  Look in a shop window?  Stop, look, and listen.  They dart in and out like banshees.

On another topic, they’re giving Under Armour a sweet Enterprise Zone/TIF type deal.  I saw other parts of the city that looked like they could use some investment, okay, a lot of investment.  I guess that’s not how those deals work.  Here or in Baltimore.

Forget the scooters.
