JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Chattanooga Lookouts shut out the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 5-0 on Monday from the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
LHP Packy Naughton pitched no-hit baseball for 4 2/3 innings before the Shrimp could get a hit. The Lookouts lefty would allow only one more hit in 6 2/3 innings and combined the shutout with Wyatt Strahan. Naughton yielded just two hits and two walks while striking out seven.
While Chattanooga pitching sparkled, Jose Siri tore the tails off the Shrimp with a pair of home runs. His first was a big blast to left while the second just cleared the left-center score board for his four runs batted in.
For Siri, it was his first multi-homer game of the season. The outfielder struck out in his first at-bat. After swinging over top of strike three he smiled at the pitcher and gave him a thumbs up.
It was Siri who got the better of the next two match ups against Jorge Guzman. In the third inning he hit a two-run home run down the left-field line to give Chattanooga a 3-0 lead.
Scoring began for the Lookouts in the third inning when Michael Beltre walked against Jacksonville (36-46, 7-5) starter Jorge Guzman (4-8) to begin a scoreless third. An Alfredo Rodriguez single put runners on the corners before a wild pitch allowed Beltre to score.
After a foul out, Jose Siri slugged a two-run home run to put Chattanooga (42-39, 6-6) ahead.
In the 6th inning, again facing Guzman, He crushed another two-run homer – this time to left-center. T.J. Friedl singled to start the inning. Siri then blasted his second homer of the game that put the Lookouts up 5-0, which wound up being the final score.
