The Jackson Generals lowered the boom on the Chattanooga bullpen on Friday evening, pounding the Lookouts' relief corps in an 8-0 shutout victory at AT&T Field.
The Lookouts LHP Packy Naughton put together another superb start as he notched his fourth consecutive quality start going six innings strong, allowing just a pair of runs, on five hits, while striking out three.
Generals right-hander Emilio Vargas (4-3, 4.08 ERA) held Chattanooga to just three hits in five innings of work. Vargas did not permit an extra-base hit in his outing He walked one and struck out five, giving way to the Jackson bullpen after throwing 92 pitches.
Unlike the performance of Chattanooga's bullpen, four Jackson relievers struck out nine men over the next four innings, conceding a lone hit across the final four innings to the Chattanooga offense.
The Lookouts collected only four hits in the game, while putting only a pair of base runners in scoring position the entire game.
The scoreboard held steady at 2-0 until the eighth inning, when Lookouts LHP Ty Boyles loaded the bases with one out and then hit Beer with a pitch to bring home the runner from third for a 3-0 lead.
Drew Ellis followed with a sacrifice fly against Ryan Nutof that drove in another run for a 4-0 advantage.
In the ninth, Chattanooga's Jesse Stallings struggled, conceding a pinch-hit RBI triple to Daulton Varsho, a two-out RBI single, and two-run homer by Pavin Smith that doubled the Jackson advantage at 8-0, the final score.

The Lookouts are back in action Saturday night with a 7:15 first pitch as LHP Reiver Sanmartin is set to get the ball vs. D'backs top pitching prospect RHP (J.B. Bukauskas (0-0, 8.10 ERA).
Saturday night will be Used Car Night, a 27 year tradition in which 11 cars will be given away by local dealers.
