Loretta Morris

Loretta Morris, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019.

She is the only daughter of the late James and Elsie Goddard born on Aug. 23, 1940, in Chattanooga.

She was married to Melvin S. Morris and is survived by her five children, Ricardo, Kevin, Lindsey, Richard (Donna), and Melissa Morris. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by one and only brother, Willie James Goddard who was survived by his wife, Esther and two sons, Cedric and Michael.

Loretta was a 1958 graduate of Howard High School.  In addition, she received her associates degree as a certified nursing assistant from Draughons Junior College. Loretta spent more than 30 years in service to the Haney and Parks families on Lookout Mountain. Loretta was always on the go!  While Honey, as she was so affectional known by many, only had five biological children, she can be credited for raising, helping guiding and nurturing many, many more. She was an excellent cook who never met a stranger she didn’t feed. One of her biggest dreams was to visit Africa.

Visitation is on Friday, Sept. 13, from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, Sept. 14, at noon in the chapel with Bishop Richard Morris as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
