The Covenant women’s soccer team recorded a shut out and picked up their first win over the season, 3-0, over Berry on Tuesday night from Scotland Yard.

This marks the first time in program history that the Lady Scots were able to shut out the Vikings in 22 all-time meetings.

Covenant (1-3-1) came out firing scoring three first-half goals to take a commanding 3-0 lead into the half.

Kailey Burrell collected a ball off a Viking misplay and promptly put the ball in the back of the net in just the eighth minute of the match for her second goal of the season.

Addy Cronan gathered a deflected pass and dribbled around three defenders to fire one over the end line for her first goal of the season and to give the Lady Scots a 2-0 with just under 18 minutes left in the half.

Covenant was not done yet as Paige Simons played a ball through two defenders that found Anna Robertson for a quick touch.
Robertson then gathered and put one past the diving keeper for the final goal of the night in the 33rd minute of the match.

The goal was Robertson’s second of the season.

Berry (5-2-0) had ample opportunity to score throughout the match including three off the woodwork in the first half. The Vikings outshot Covenant 26-8 in the match, putting only nine on frame.

Lucy Sandhoff recorded her first collegiate shutout and victory with nine saves.

Burrell led the way for the Lady Scots with three total shots.

Karsen Brantley shot seven times, five on goal to lead the Viking offense. Lyndsey Francingues took five shots, one being saved.

Covenant held a slight edge in possession, controlling the ball 53 percent of the match.

The Lady Scots continue their four-game homestand as they welcome Emory to Scotland Yard on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
Addy Cronan scored the Scot's second goal of the evening.
