University of Tennessee at Chattanooga freshman Faith Gober scored her first two collegiate goals in the Mocs’ 4-1 win over Alabama A&M Thursday at Bulldog Field. Chattanooga improves to 4-2-2 overall and the Bulldogs fall to 2-5 on the year.
Chattanooga got on the board early with an unassisted goal by Hollie Massey in the seventh minute. Gober’s first goal came in the 36th minute to give the Mocs a 2-0 lead. That would stand through intermission.
Alabama A&M’s Makayla Rushing scored the Bulldog’s lone goal getting past the Mocs’ defense before it could get back in place after a corner.
Gober scored her second goal of the match off a pass from senior Bailey Gale from the left.
Gober charged the net and had a 1v1 with the keeper who guessed the wrong way. Gober stepped hard to her right, getting the keeper to lunge and hit the pitch. She then took the ball to her left and planted it into an open goal for a 3-1 UTC lead in the 77th minute.
Gale drove home the Mocs’ fourth goal with just more than two minutes to play. She took a pass from Massey and put it into the bottom left of the net for the final score of the game.
