UTC Women Travel To Samford Thursday

 The Chattanooga women’s basketball team is taking its two-game win streak on the road to Samford Thursday night at the Pete Hanna Center.

Chattanooga and Samford met six times before the Bulldogs joined the Southern Conference in 2008 with UTC winning five of the meetings. The Mocs lead the series 24-7 and 17-5 in SoCon play. UTC is 9-5 in Birmingham and have won the last eight meetings.

The Mocs are off to a 3-1 start in the Southern Conference with wins over Western Carolina, Wofford and Furman.
Chattanooga is shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 29.6 percent from beyond the arc. At the free throw line, UTC is now shooting 72.3 percent. On the boards, the Mocs are averaging 33.8 rebounds per game.

Lakelyn Bouldin is just shy of #15 on UTC’s all-time scoring list with 1,315 points. She leads UTC with 12.2 points per game. She and Bria Dial each have a team-best 29 3-pointers. Dial is third on the team with 8.2 points per game after dropping in a career-best 23 against the Terriers. She has 24 steals, 23 assists and 12 blocked shots. Eboni Williams has a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game, third best in the league, and is second on the team in scoring with 9.2 points per game. She leads UTC with 27 steals and has 31 assists and 14 blocked shots.

The Bulldogs are 7-11 overall and 2-1 in league play with wins against Wofford and Mercer while falling by eight at Furman in the opening week of SoCon play. They average 66.9 points per game while allowing 68.9. Samford is shooting 40.8 percent from the field, 32.2 percent from the 3-point line and 67.9 percent from the free throw stripe. On the boards they average 35.9 rebounds per game, 1.6 fewer than its opponents.

Natalie Armstrong scored a career-high in the Bulldogs win over Mercer and leads the team with 14.3 points per game and is second in rebounding with 5.4 per game. Sarah Myers is her team’s top rebounder with 6.7 per game and second on the team in scoring with 13.7 points per game. Charity Brown leads the SoCon with 111 (6.2/game) assists and averages 9.3 points per game.
