The Baylor girls and boys soccer team was given the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2018-19 academic year. Among these programs are 31 schools receiving honors for both their boys and girls teams.
A total of 312 soccer teams (134 boys, 178 girls) from throughout the United States have earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
"I am really proud to work at a school where we produce student-athletes," Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said. "This is a great honor for our soccer program and for these individuals student-athletes. This is the hard work of an amazing headmaster, athletic director, and especially our faculty/teachers at Baylor that push our student-athletes academically as well. This award is as much for our teachers as it is for our soccer program. They deserve a lot of credit."
Baylor is 1 out of 31 schools in the nation that won the team academic award for both programs.
