Ben Van Winkle Performs In The Garden Thursday At Barking Legs; Peppino D'Agostino Streams Aug. 7

  • Tuesday, July 21, 2020

Ben Van Winkle will perform in the backyard garden at Barking Legs on Thursday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the door.

"A solo performance by Ben Van Winkle is much easier to pull off safely in our backyard garden, and we're on, though we are capping the audience at 30 people to allow distancing," officials said. "The ticket price may look high, but the large majority goes directly to Ben, whose livelihood has been dramatically impacted by the pandemic.

"We urge you to support the live music community generously, and attending a performance like this is a nice way to do so. Bring your mask and lawn chair, and we'll seat you safely. We'll be selling beer and soda, and you can bring your own wine for a mere $10 per bottle corkage. See you Thursday."

Wednesday Jazz is on hiatus for the moment, but Barking Legs is actively exploring options to get it back in some way, shape or form.

"Nathan Bell's concert on our backyard garden stage made for one of the most satisfying afternoons we've spent in a long time," officials said. "It has already lead to a new collaboration between the Legs and Chattanooga Song Circle, and this event with the wonderful cellist/singer/songwriter Ben Van Winkle is the first offering from the partnership.

"This unique urban garden, which features a collection of stone sculptures by the late Bob Dombrowski, is a perfect oasis for enjoying live music in a safe environment during the pandemic."

Peppino D'Agostino, will be streaming a concert on Friday, Aug. 7 at 8 p.m.

"Acoustic guitar marvel Peppino D’Agostino comes to us through our partnership with Baker Booking of Asheville," officials said. "He’ll be streaming live from the Bay Area.

"Haven’t heard Peppino? It is fair to say that any guitarist garnering the admiration of Leo Kottke, Tommy Emmanuel and Pierre Bensusan is worthy of our attention.

"Please join us, and please be generous with donations, which are shared by Peppino and Barking Legs. Suggested donation is $20 per household. Show them (and Barking Legs) the love, and there will be more to come."
