Mary Christine "Chris" Goble Adams, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on October 12, 2021. She was born on Dec. 21, 1933 and lived most of her life in Benton, but moved to Cleveland three years ago to be near her family. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Benton and graduated from Polk County High School in 1952. She retired from M&M Mars, as well as UT Agricultural Extension Service, where she served as a secretary for many years. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed being a member of a league. She loved to crochet, quilt and was a very talented crafter. Chris taught many people the skills of crocheting and quilting. She leaves a legacy of quilts and afghans to her family and friends to love and pass on to future generations.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John D. "Red" Adams; her parents, James Austin and Ethel Mae Green Goble; brothers, J.R., Hoyet, Elldon, Edward and Robert Goble; sister, Betty Goble Wooten; and two grandsons, Jason Cain and Rodney Adams.
Survivors include her son, David (Kathy) Adams; her daughters, Kathy (David) Godfrey, Earlene (Jon) Lummus and Kay Adams; grandchildren, Keri Adams, Travis (Kristine) Godfrey, Melinda (Eric) Dalton and Richard White; great-grandchildren, Hunter Godfrey, Madison Godfrey, Dustin Shelton, Emmitt Dalton, Caleb (Jessica) Cain, Alexander Caywood and Benjamin Caywood; great-great-grandchildren, Eli Cain, Sophia Cain and Landrum Cain; and sister-in-law, Naomi Goble. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15 at Oak Grove Cemetery.
