We've all seen the massive housing growth in Ooltewah. Just drive down Snow Hill Road and you can see new developments going up, with hundreds of homes coming soon.
At Hampton Creek, the building of homes is maxed out at 211.
The Ooltewah Club, (formally the Champions Club) winds its way through three communities - Hampton Creek, Hampton Cove, and Hampton on the Lake. The club was recently purchased and completely renovated. It's now a showplace. But the new owner needs to recoup several million dollars he's spent for the massive upgrades, current and future.
So what's the plan? More members with an aggressive marketing strategy to be self-sustaining like every other private golf club in America?
Nope. He's selling lots to build an additional 52 homes on course property in an already congested Hampton Creek, with only one entrance/exit.
The building of these homes eliminate green space while destroying many home's property values, all in an effort to make those who've lived at Hampton Creek for decades suffer so he can recoup his losses.
Homeowners are furious. And they're fighting back. They're taking their fight to the Regional Planning Commission on March 8.
