Kayla Louie had three this in Friday’s series opener versus AUM.
Kayla Louie had three hits and Laney Harris added two but that was the only offense for the Lee softball Lady Flames as they dropped the opening game of a three-game GSC series to Auburn Montgomery, 4-1 on Friday afternoon.

The Warhawks jumped out early in the bottom of the first as Molly Cobb singled to right to score Allie Miller. Cobb would do more damage in the third as she drilled a two-run homer to left to make it 3-0. Parker Pinholste capped the AUM scoring with a solo blast to left center in the fourth.

The Lady Flame bats were cooled for most of the contest by Warhawk starter Alanna Goble (3-0).
Lee rallied its final at-bat loading the bases with one out. Harris followed with a run-scoring single through the left side to make it 4-1 and bring the go-ahead run to the plate.

Goble would work out of the jam however as she induced an infield pop up before a fielder's choice ended the contest. Goble finished with six strikeouts and scattered six walks.

"We didn't get the this when we needed them tonight," said Lee head coach Emily Russell. "I think we learned a little bit about playing on the road so hopefully we can take that into tomorrow."

Madison Barnett (2-2) made her first road start of her young career and gave up four runs on eight hits in five innings. She struck out three and did not walk a batter. Gracie Leslie came on in relief and tossed a scoreless sixth.

"I was glad to get Gracie back out there to get some time on the mound," added Russell. "I look for us to come out tomorrow and play better against a quality AUM club."

The Lady Flames fall to 5-3 on the year and are 3-1 in the GSC while the Warhawks improve to a perfect 5-0 (1-0).

Lee will wrap up the weekend in Alabama with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
