Drucilla “Dru” Woodby, 71, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 of a stomach aneurism. She etired from Bendix after 20 years. After her retirement, she worked in the garden center of Home Depot, where she was very passionate about the flowers. While she didn’t have children of her own, she dedicated her life to mothering and helping others, especially nephews and nieces. She was the “Mama Bear” to many generations. “Dru” was strict, but loving and was the backbone of many families.
She was preceded in death by mother, Rosa Nelle Trentham; grandmother, Marie Trentham; sister-in-law, Brenda Jo Woodby; brothers, Charlie Lonzo Woodby, Albert Lee Woodby and James William Woodby; sister, Irene Bright; and cousin, Larry Neeley.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John Woodby, of McDonald; three sisters, Martha Marie Piasecki, of Cleveland, Mary Elizabeth White, of Madisonville and Betty Ann Suattord, of Cleveland; cousins, Patsy Almond, Doc Neeley, of Decatur and Tony Neeley, of Cleveland; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was a precious person who helped many people and was beloved by many.
The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21 at the Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21 in the Chapel of Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home and Cremation Services, with interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
