The Scenic City Volunteer Pageants franchise maintained its perfect record at the Miss Tennessee Volunteer finals on Saturday night in Jackson when Miss Scenic City Amelia Collins became the third consecutive local representative to win the state title.
Miss Chattanooga Elise Stein was the fourth runner-up and Miss Tennessee Valley Peyton Wilson was among the top 10 finalists. The pageant returned to the Carl Perkins Civic Center after a two-year absence due to the pandemic.
A Biomathematics major at Memphis’ Rhodes College with a 4.0 GPA Miss Collins received $18,000 in scholarships: $15,000 for the win, $2,000 for her preliminary victories in talent and swimsuit and an additional $1,000 for receiving the Academic Award. A professional dancer who has been training in Los Angeles while taking her classes online, the 19-year-old mesmerized the audience with her jazz rendition of “What’s Going On”? The aspiring pediatric oncologist will also be the first Miss Tennessee Volunteer to compete at Miss Volunteer America which will makes its debut next May in Jackson.
Miss Collins was crowned by 2019 winner and former Miss Scenic City Kerri Arnold. In 2018 Miss Chattanooga Christine Williamson became the first Miss Tennessee Volunteer.
Since its inception in 2003 the Scenic City program has produced 10 state winners and countless runners-up and top 10 finalists. Since Chattanooga area residency is not required to compete at the local pageants contestants from across the state participate eager to capture a title because of the program’s enormous success.
The date for the 2022 pageant has not been announced.
Miss Cleveland Marti Sullivan and Miss Smoky Mountains Brittany Davis who lives in Chattanooga both received $1,000 scholarships as the winners of the Non-Finalist Interview and Non-Finalist Award for overall performance, respectively.
