The American Heart Association announces Sharon Law and Gina Dhanani as the co-chairs of the 2022 Go Red for Women movement in Chattanooga. Go Red for Women is a worldwide initiative of the American Heart Association designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women locally, nationally and globally.
“Knowing the threat heart disease and stroke posed to my friends, family and even myself, I had to take action to help encourage awareness about women’s number one killer. My hope is that my granddaughter’s generation will not face the same odds we face today,” said Ms. Law, Go Red for Women co-chair.
Officials said, "Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives each year than all forms of cancer combined. Cardiovascular disease continues to be a woman’s greatest health threat, taking the life of one in every three women."
“If we can save even one life and help women better understand the signs and symptoms of heart disease, we will have succeeded. I’m so grateful for the community’s support of this movement and also the executive leadership team, committee and volunteers who serve alongside us,” said Ms. Dhanani, Go Red for Women co-chair.
“We are thrilled to have these exceptional women’s experience, conviction and passion help to drive Go Red in Chattanooga. Together, we know that we will have a positive impact on the lives of women in our community and the families that depend on them,” said Emily Niespodziany, executive director of the American Heart Association – Chattanooga.
This year’s Go Red for Women movement and its local achievements will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20 at the Go Red for Women Luncheon.
