Jack Wyatt Kontny, Sr., 67, of Wildwood, Georgia (formerly of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois), left this earth on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal, and his son, Jack, Jr.

Jack was an Army veteran and a concrete man. He was strong and hard-working, and known and loved by his friends and family for his ceaseless attempts to make people laugh, his great sense of humor and his love for adventure. Rarely did a full conversation go by without a witty remark or funny quip from Jack, and never did an opportunity for travel or a new adventure get turned down.  He bungee jumped, sky dived, had snowball fights in the summer in Colorado, stormed castles in Ireland, ate live frogs on a bet and live gold fish at his sister’s wedding for a lark. Jack was competitive and could coax anyone into anything, especially if it was something that would make him laugh (even if it was only him)!  He made so many people smile, even when he was facing his most difficult challenges during his last year. Jack was fiercely loyal, and those that knew him would readily describe him as a man that would give you the shirt off of his back without a second thought.

Jack was his children’s hero and he was their biggest fan.  His love for Jack Jr. and Crystal was second only to the love he had for the true loves of his life: his amazing dogs, Maggie, Lola, and Brandi. Jack spent his last year planning and moving across the country with his children and son-in-law to retire to warmer weather and sunnier climes in Georgia. Jack is sorely missed, but will always be remembered.

A memorial service may be at a later date.
