Kenneth Bostic

Kenneth Lebron Bostic, 59, of Chattanooga, transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home in the early morning hours on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

Affectionately known as “Kenny” to some and “Big Daddy” to others, he was born on September 13, 1963, raised on the Southside of Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the Alton Park community and remained a resident of Chattanooga for a great deal of his life, in addition to residing in New York, Norfolk Virginia, and Italy. In his 59 years on Earth, Kenny was well known and well loved. He positively impacted the lives of many people with his gentle spirit, kind heart, hardy laugh, friendly smile and helping hands. He never met a stranger. Kenny graduated from Howard High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the Class of 1981, where he was a member of the Kappa Club, musician (Baritone/Tubist) in the famous HHS Marching 100 Band and a star athlete in baseball, basketball and football. He made the All- City and All- State football teams in his junior and senior years and won many awards for athleticism. A scholar and a gentleman, Kenny graduated with academic Honors from McKenzie Junior College in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He earned an Associate’s degree in Business Administration and a certification in Hospitality Management. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, worked previously as a Teacher at Howard High School and later as a licensed Insurance Agent with Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company. Kenny was a born-again Christian and accepted Jesus Christ as his LORD and Savior. He was a long-time and active member of the Rock Island Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN, where he was a faithful member in Sunday school. He assisted with youth mentoring, served in the Men’s Ministry, Pastor’s Aide Committee, Usher Board and Kitchen Ministry. He was passionate about cooking and took pleasure in cooking for others, especially for his church family. He enjoyed watching sports, comedy shows and Western movies. In his later years, he enjoyed fellowships with family and friends. Kenny adamantly loved the Howard High School Class of 1981 where he shared many memories and formed life-long friendships but, perhaps, his greatest joy was being a father, grandfather and uncle!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret “Ms. Lucy” Bostic and Charles “Lil Fuzz” Lloyd; grandparents, Pastor Rosa Walton Bostick and Rev. Early Bostick; sister, Regina "Gee-Gee" Staton; uncles, Rev. Earlie Lebron Bostick and Samuel Bostick; aunts, Brenda Lloyd and Doris Lloyd and a host of other loving relatives.

Kenny is survived by his children, sons, Terrance Bostic, Marcus Gladden, both of Chattanooga, Kevin (Sara) Jones of Town Creek, Al., and Kenshunda Bostic of Shreveport, LA; three grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Christine) Lloyd, Durand Lloyd, both of Denver, Co, Franklin Bostic-Battle, and Reginald Staton, both of Chattanooga; sisters, Tammy Bostick (Dwight) Harrison of Chattanooga and Lashonda (Jason) Harris of Atlanta, GA; uncles, Michael Bostick of Chattanooga and Elder Joel Bostick of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; aunt, Linda Swift of Chattanooga; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins ,other relatives and friends.

Kenneth will lie in state on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ron Cook, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
