An estimated 1,300 people attended the Nokian Tyres Summer Nights concert series at the Rhea County Courthouse in June, a record attendance in the fourth year of the event.

Each Friday night in June, Nokian Tyres and the Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation presented live music from local bands alongside food from area vendors and informational booths from Rhea County businesses. Nokian Tyres also gave away a set of tires to a randomly selected attendee, and local businesses donated items for weekly giveaways.

Nokian Tyres Summer Nights is presented by the Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation, which exists to celebrate the history and culture of Rhea County through diverse programs, exhibits and preservation of resources.

“Nokian Tyres has been a tremendous addition to our community, providing good jobs and outstanding support for events such as Nokian Tyres Summer Night concerts,” said Tom Davis, vice president of Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation. “Our audiences each night this summer enjoyed the music and many specifically thanked Nokian Tyres for their support.”

“We were thrilled to see a record number of guests attend Nokian Tyres Summer Nights,” said Nokian Tyres Senior Manager of Communications Wes Boling. “We appreciate Rhea Heritage’s efforts to attract people to Dayton’s beautiful town square, and we share the organization’s passion for helping Rhea County continue to grow.”

Nokian Tyres sponsors the event as part of its commitment to serving the community where it operates an award-winning production factory. The company is currently hiring 125 workers and doubling production at its Dayton Factory, where it makes all-season and all-weather tires for the North American tire market.

Nokian Tyres opened the Dayton Factory in 2019 and will employ approximately 475 team members at the facility by the end of the year. It won Company of the Year honors from the Chattanooga Regional Manufacturers Association in 2021, and it was the first Rhea County company to earn the prestigious Tennessee Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Award for its environmental efforts. Nokian Tyres recycles or reuses all production waste generated at the factory.
