Nancy P. Ellis
Nancy Priscilla Haston Ellis passed from death to life at 2 p.m. on April 18, 2026.
She was born on Nov. 19, 1940, to Fred Dexter and Opal Haston and was raised on her family’s farm in the Hickory Valley community of White County, Tn. She graduated from White County High School, Class of 1958, and graduated from Martin College in 1960.
Nancy gave her life to Jesus Christ as a young girl and faithfully served Him as a wife, mother, encourager, and Sunday School teacher throughout her life.
As a high school senior, though she did not know it at the time, she met her soulmate, best friend, and sweetheart. She married Lon Ellis on July 2, 1960, beginning a 65-year love story that will last for eternity.
She was the devoted mother of Paul (Sandra), Kim (Jerry), and Jeffery (Karen); grandmother to Abigail (Nathan), Lydia (John), Luke (Macey), David (Abbey), Andrew (Caroline), Nathaniel (Alisha), Emily, Adeline, Grayson (Grant), and Walker; and great-grandmother to the newest loves of her life Haston, Pepper, Colt, Shepherd, Theo, Carson, and Cannon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Fred Dexter Haston Jr.; and a special aunt, Ruby Andrews.
Nancy’s spiritual gifts were hospitality and encouragement. She was a longtime member of Dallas Bay Church, serving in many capacities, always preferring to remain out of the spotlight. Only her God—and those she touched—know the depth of her impact on countless lives.
She loved her friends, her church, and her Sunday School family with deep devotion. Along with several couples, she helped start The Gatekeepers Sunday School class at Dallas Bay Church more than 25 years ago — a group that remained family to her until her passing.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 21, at Dallas Bay Church. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Storehouse ministry at Dallas Bay Church.
The family extends special thanks to Hearth Hospice, especially Jennifer and Brandi, for the compassionate care they provided during Nancy’s final days.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
