Crews Work All Night To Contain Woods Fire At Stringers Ridge Park

  • Thursday, April 23, 2026

Chattanooga firefighters spent all night tackling a woods fire on Stringers Ridge.

At 11:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Green Shift companies responded to Stringers Ridge Park at 898 High Ridge Dr. after 911 received multiple reports of visible flames and smoke from concerned citizens. The Tennessee Division of Forestry also responded to that location where approximately an acre of land was burning.

Chattanooga Fire personnel worked with Forestry to start fire breaks with leaf blowers.

Two more trucks from Forestry arrived and joined the existing fire ground operations. Command requested Mini Pumper 17 and Tanker 16 be dispatched to the scene.

Once all units arrived, water shuttle operations began to extinguish the fire. The terrain was challenging, so firefighters from CFD and Forestry used handlines to surround the fire from different sides. After an extended operation, the fire was under control at around 6 a.m.

Fire officials said, "We ask the public to be aware that a fire break has been made at that location. There will be smoldering and light smoke in that area for some time, which is normal following wildfires."
