Manfred Hermann Maier, 73, of East Ridge, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 in a local health care facility.
A native of Stuttgart, Germany, Mr. Maier apprenticed with Diamler Benz and brought his family to the United States in May, 1960 under sponsorship by the Studebaker Division of Patton Motor Company. He later was the owner/operator of M&M Garage in Rossville.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Ella and Albert Widner, and father, Ottmar Maier.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Helga and Bruce Day of Chattanooga, Ingrid and Dennis Kinsey, East Ridge, Tina and Randy Wilkes, Harrison; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Annette Maier, Huntsville, Al.; sister and brother-in-law, Christa and Heinz Staudenecker, Esslingen, Germany; grandchildren, Carter Day, Tyler and Craig Kinsey, Ryan Wilkes, Jordan, Morgan, and Bailey Maier; niece and nephew, Petra and Ralf Staudenecker.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Rev. Johnny Haynes and Pastor Thomas Jones officiating.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
