Lucille Hixson Barker, 92, died on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.
She was a lifelong resident of Sequatchie County and a lifelong member of Welch Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Barker was the lunchroom supervisor for Sequatchie County and cook for the high school and Dunlap Elementary. She also co-owned and operated the “Steak House” in Dunlap.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Z.T. Barker; son, Howard Barker; and parents, Will and Bertha Hughes Hixson.
She is survived by her sister, Wilma (Drefus) Lewis; daughter-in-law, Myrna Barker; grandsons, Zachariah Taylor (Vivian) Barker and William Howard (Fran) Barker; great-grandchildren, Samantha Barker, Matthew Barker, Rhyan Sutherland, Johnathan Sutherland, Trace Barker, Leah Fulton and Heather Henry; nephews, Roland Lewis, Hillard Johnson and B.H. Barker; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. CST on Friday, in the Ewton Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bill Cross and Brother Greg Bartley officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. CST Thursday.
