Barbara Juanita Carroll, 73, of Cleveland, died on Monday, October 6, 2008, in a Chattanooga hospital.

She was retired from the University of Mississippi. She was president of the “Waiting Wives” organization during the Vietnam War.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne T. Carroll; and one grandchild.

She is survived by her son, Gary Carroll, Booneville, Mo.; two daughters, Debbie Patterson and Brenda Gerhardt both of Columbia, Mo,; two sisters, Joyce Crisp and Melba Self both of Cleveland; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
