Virgie Lee "Bailey" Burkhalter died on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008.
She lived in Ringgold for the last 25 years and was of the Church of God faith.
She worked as a nurse's aide for more than 35 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lude and Myrtle Mae Bailey; husband, Fred Burkhalter; daughter, Carole Bartlett; one grandson and one great-granddaughter; and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Treva and Mickey Forster, of Ringgold, Patricia and Ray Thornton, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., and Brenda and George Helton, of Chickamauga, Ga.; sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald Burkhalter of Chickamauga, Ga., and Kenneth and Ruth Burkhalter, of Ringgold; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Minister John Feagans officiating. Burial will follow in the Crest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will begin receiving friends after 3 p.m. on Monday, all day Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
