James William Triplett, 84, of Signal Mountain, died at home on Friday, June 18, 2010.

He was born May 20, 1926 in Bradley County, Tn., to Ted and Elsie Triplett. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. In 1950, he married Vora Pannell. He worked most of his adult life as an electrician at Southern Railway and was a member of IBEW.

He was a member of Signal Mountain United Methodist Church.

James was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, Forrest and a son, Michael W. Triplett.

Survivors include his wife, Vora; son, Paul (Pamela) Triplett, daughter, Mary (Robert) Dykes; sister, Dot (Robert) Meyers, brothers, Jerry (JoAnn) Triplett, John (Jeannie) Triplett; grandchildren, Eric, Joshua and Lucas Triplett, Dakota Bryant, several cousins, nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Raven.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. J.N. Howard officiating. Burial will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Monday, June 21, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Signal Mountain United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3419 Taft Highway, Signal Mountain, Tn. 37377.

Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, North Chapel.
