Christmas Concert At Covenant College Is Dec. 6

  • Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Covenant College is hosting a Christmas concert, followed by a dessert reception, on Thursday, December 6, 2012. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the college chapel. The suggested donation is $10 ($5 for students).

The public is warmly invited to attend.

With themes of “Light Everlasting” and “Peace of Christmas,” the concert will feature Christmas music from a variety of countries and cultures, including selections from Handel’s Messiah, Berlioz’s L’enfance du Christ, and the African song Betelehemu, as well as several traditional carols. The audience will sing along on some pieces.

The Covenant Chorale, brass ensemble, orchestra, Madrigal Singers, Renaissance Consort, and Professor Rosella Ewing will all perform. Professors David Long and Lok Kim are conducting.

The dessert reception will be held in the Great Hall immediately following the concert, and will conclude with all singing Silent Night.

“It promises to be a warm, worshipful evening of music,” said vice president Dr. Jeff Hall, “and we hope that you will mark your calendar to join in this celebration of Jesus’ birth.”
