Choice Hotels has filed suit in Federal Court in Chattanooga against an East Ridge motel operator and his lodging management group.
The suit against Anil Patel and SRM Lodging Group says Choice Hotels on June 5, 2001, entered into an agreement with Mr. Patel for the Comfort Inn at 6710 Ringgold Road.
However, it says Choice Hotels 10 years later in June 2011 gave notice that it was not renewing the agreement.
The suit says the hotel has continued to use items under the previous Choice Hotel agreement.
It says Choice Hotel agents visited the motel in September and on Dec.
18 and found the motel was still in violation.
It asks unspecified damages and a permanent injunction against the motel using any item associated with Choice Hotels.
Attorney J. Britt Phillips of Franklin, Tn., filed the suit.
