A Chattanooga Police officer(s) shot and killed a home invader who aimed a gun at officers early Tuesday morning.

Investigators with the Chattanooga Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit identified the man who was fatally shot as 31-year-old, Ronald Lovell Wright.  A second suspect who was taken into custody has been identified as 19-year-old Kevin Williams.  Warrants are being obtained on Williams for three counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of attempted aggravated robbery in connection with the home invasion shortly after midnight at 1332 Florida St.

The victims of the robbery have been identified as Logan Naff, 24; Adam Vogelmeier, 24; Taylor Worley, 19; Austin Schmucker, 18, and Michael Keesler, 19.

Police said, "Investigators have received reports of recent drug activity at this residence and believe that was the motive for the home invasion.  Through the investigation, officers found drugs, cash, and firearms in the residence and have learned that Vogelmeier is a convicted felon.  The Chattanooga Police Department is working closely with the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office on more potential criminal charges."

Investigators said Tuesday night they were in the process of obtaining warrants on Adam Vogelmeier for the following charges:  felon in possession of a controlled substance for resale, felon in possession of marijuana for resale, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Further charges are pending through the U.S. Attorney’s Office with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

The officers involved in the shooting are Sgt. David Allen, Officer Justin Mitchell, Officer Bryan Moody and Officer Jeremiah Cook.

The officers sustained no injuries and have been placed on administrative leave per CPD policy.

When patrol officers arrived after the 12:11 a.m. call, two suspects were still inside the residence along with the victims.

As officers ordered the suspects to come out, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at them.  The officers shot the suspect, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

The second suspect was taken into custody shortly after. None of the victims were harmed.
